Project Life 2017 | Feb 20 - 26

Hello scrappy friends! Today I am sharing the details of a layout from this past winter, as I continue to play catch up (I'm not alone, right?!).

For this layout I used the June "Boardwalk" Pocket Life kit from Citrus Twist Kits. I also used some sequins from Spiegel Mom Scraps on a few cards, which I created as part of a challenge I tackled as the July Guest Designer on their blog. For this post, I'll share ALL the details, so enjoy!

Here is the overall layout...

And just the left side page...

The title card is the 1st in the series I created for my Spiegel Mom Scraps guest design post. We were challenged to scraplift the amazing Missy Whidden. In lieu of a direct scrapflit, I chose to draw inspiration from a design technique Missy often uses- a bold title, stitched in place, over a mixed media background. I created MY mixed media background with some Prima watercolors, and then hand cut some alpha letters out of the patterned paper from the kit, which I stitched in place. I further embellished the title with SMS sequins, and some small die-cut flowers.

A few more details from the left side...

I loved this calendar piece from the exclusive die cuts included in this kit. I added some subtle stitching to secure it to the woodgrain paper, tucked a small die-cut flower under, and added a stamp.

Another Missy-inspired bold title card, at a smaller scale. This time, paired with a 3x4 photo, and a filler card from the kit. (How perfect was this "good at naps" card for our always-napping dog!?!)

Here is the overall right side page...

And some details, including more of the bold title/mixed media cards...

Finally, 1 last card, which is a bit of a tweak on the Missy-inspired title cards. Here, I used an acrylic piece from Color Cast Designs which I backed with patterned paper. I love the spark of interest this card adds to the remaining title cards spread through this layout!

And that's it for this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Project Life 2017 | June 9-11

Hi scrappy friends! Sorry I've been quiet for a bit, the start of summer has really kept us quite busy around here. On the bright side, I have lots of fun events to scrap, which is helping to spark some motivation! Today I'm sharing a post that I highlighted over on the Spiegel Mom Scraps blog. I shared just a few highlights there, but I wanted to share the rest of the details here for you.

This layout documents one of my early summer events, an amazing 3-day weekend at The Taste of Country Music Festival. For this layout I used the July "#RightNow" Pocket Life kit and word stickers from Citrus Twist Kits, as well as some cork shapes and sequins from Spiegel Mom Scraps.

Here is the overall layout, showing the left and right side pages (without inserts)...

And the full left page...

For the title card, I layered large gold glitter alpha (Heidi Swapp from the kit) along with smaller glitter alpha (also Heidi Swapp, from my stash), on a piece of patterned paper. SUPER simple, but I love the layered alpha look!

Here are a few details from the left side...

The card below, is one of my favorites. I started by pairing a 3x4 photo with a piece of paper, and added the exclusive acrylic piece, more glitter alpha and then to accent the paper pattern, I hand stitched some cork stars.

The die cut package in this kit included a few pieces that were in the shape of a ticket, which were perfect for this layout. I used each one to highlight the name of a headliner artist, using the mini glitter alpha, and then stitching them to the photo.

Here is the overall right page...

And some details from this page...

I just LOVE these little cork stars, with gold stitching!

As I mentioned earlier, this layout also included a few inserts. The first is a 6x12 pocket page, which highlights photos from Day 2 of the festival. Behind that, is a zipper pouch holding memorabilia.

I created the confetti pocket below, by backing the pocket with vellum and adding sequins and cork stars (from Spiegel Mom Scraps). For a bit of interest, I also stitched a tag cluster to the bottom corner. I love this look of the sequins and cork together!

Here is the back side of this insert...

And finally, I have just one more insert to share. I had some memorabilia from this weekend that I wanted to include in the album and lucky me, the Citrus Twist Kits Pocket Life kits now come packaged in these adorable zipper pouches that are exactly the right size! To make the pouch binder-friendly, I added a few multi-color grommets along one side.

For a final bit of detail, I stitched a layered tag onto the front of the pouch.

And that's about it for this layout! Thanks for stopping by!

Citrus Twist Guest Projects - May 2017

If you've been following the Citrus Twist Kits blog or Facebook fan page the past few weeks, you may have seen a few projects that I've shared as their Guest Designer for May. I was blessed to join their amazing creative team this month, using the main scrapbook kit. The products in this kit were just GORGEOUS, and perfect for a huge week I had to document which included a school event for my daughter, pre-Easter activities, and multiple family gatherings on Easter.

When I have a large week like this that I'm documenting in my Project Life album, my go-to approach is to create what I call an "insert"... essentially, an extra layout or pocket page that is narrower than 12" wide. Keeping these inserts narrower helps the left and right pages act as "bookends" and make it clear they are a PART of a larger whole. This particular week ended up consisting of the base layout (left & right Design A pages) plus TWO inserts- an 8.5x11 layout and a pocket page with 3"x3" squares. All 3 of these have been shared on the Citrus Twist Kits blog here, here and here.

In this post I wanted to share the 3 projects and how they all look together. As you can see, the main kit was plenty of product to create multiple projects!

Here is the overall base layout...

And a few details from those pages...

I added a tab along the edge, to help it stand out from the base pages...

Here is the 2nd insert, which is a pocket page of 3" squares. Front...

I have a tutorial for the confetti pocket below, on the Citrus Twist Kits blog...

Here's a final look at how the inserts look in the album...

I had a great time joining the Citrus Twist Kits Deisgn Team for the month and hope they'll have me back again in the future!
